The game offers a richly detailed, semi-original narrative that weaves seamlessly into the established lore of the franchise. Players travel across iconic, faithfully recreated locations such as Winterfell, Castle Black, the towering 700-foot Wall, and the sprawling capital of King's Landing. Throughout the adventure, they encounter and interact with beloved characters from the HBO series, including Jon Snow, Samwell Tarly, Jaime Lannister, Cersei Lannister, and Varys. 

Kingsroad delivers visceral, fully manual action combat with no auto-play features. Players choose from three distinct classes—Knight, Sellsword (Mercenary), and Assassin—each offering unique combat styles, weaponry, and skill trees. The fighting system emphasizes realistic, weighty swordplay: players chain together light and heavy attacks to create custom combos, while parrying, dodging, and reacting to enemy telegraphs are essential for survival. A standout feature is the weapon-swapping system, which allows every class to carry two primary weapons and one ranged weapon, enabling fluid tactical shifts mid-battle to exploit enemy weaknesses. Outside of combat, the game features a robust territory management system centered on the player's private estate, Reynan's Rest, where they can assign laborers, produce materials, and craft equipment.
